New Paediatric & Neonatal Unit
(10/03/2006)
In its endeavor to become a centre of excellence, RMI has attained another significant milestone by establishing new Paediatric and Neonatal Unit on March 10, 2006. This 40 bedded modern ward has a dedicated Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of four beds, equipped with latest Phototherapy lamps, Infant Incubators and Cardiac Monitors in addition to other essential equipment. The Neonatal Unit consists of “intensive care”, “special care” baby unit (SCBU) and an adjoining “Lactation Room” for mothers. A section has been designated as a ‘Play Room’ to provide recreational facilities for the sick children.
The department is headed by a Professor besides having four Consultant Physicians and a Paediatric Surgeon:
- Professor Dr. Mehr Taj Roghani (Professor of Paediatrics)
- Dr. Hazratullah Khattak (Paediatric Surgeon)
- Dr. Bakhtyar Zahid (Incharge & Paediatrician)
- Dr. Anwar Zeb (Paediatrician & Neonatalogist)
- Dr. Samreen Ahmad (Staff Paediatrician)
The Unit is adequately staffed by Medical Officers and Trained Nurses. The design and colorful decoration provides a warm and friendly environment and minimize the distress of hospital admission. Our only worry is that they are going to like it so much, they might not want to go back home!
