Management of MRSA

A seminar titled “Management of MRSA” was held in the RMI Auditorium on 9th December 2004 in line with our efforts of continuously striving for the maintenance of the highest standards of hygiene. The seminar was attended by Senior Consultants of RMI along with the Medical Officers, Nurses and Paramedical staff. The speaker on the occasion was Dr. Shoukat Bangash, Diplomate American Board Infectious Disease Control, with Special Interest in TB, AIDS and other Sexually transmitted Diseases. He had been especially called in from Islamabad for the occasion.

MRSA; “Methecilline Resistant Staphylococcal Aurius” is a notorious strain for hospital acquired infections. The speaker is the CEO of Global Health Services and Principal of Quaid-e-Azam Medical College. He has worked in Shifa International Hospital and is a reputed Physician and Epidemiologist. Dr. Bangash gave a background, introduction and etiology of MRSA and also gave latest guidelines for the Management of MRSA.

RMI Consultants appreciated his efforts for helping us in promoting high standards of sterilization, as the presentation was most suitable to our requirements for providing quality healthcare services. The Consultants raised many questions such as management in Paediatric and ENT patients and in Urology. More such educational programs are to be held in the coming months
