Professor Dr. Rehmat Ullah Wazir was born in FR, Bannu, N.W.F.P in 1936. He passed Matriculate Examination from Peshawar University in 1952. In 1954 he did FSc from Peshawar University. He passed M.B.B.S in 1960 from Khyber Medical College, University of Peshawar. After completing the House Job in the Lady Reading Hospital in 1960-1961 and joined KMC as demonstrator anatomy. After that he proceeded to the United Kingdom for specialization in Radiology on a scholar ship from the Peshawar University in 1964.
He then got admission in DMRD course in London and was placed at Westminster hospital and Gay's Hospital London for training in Radiology and Physics. He then passed DMRD examination from Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons London in Oct 1966.
He worked as Registrar in Radiology Department of The London Hospital White - Chappell from Dec 1966 to April 1967, then returned to Pakistan and joined Anatomy Department of KMC Peshawar Pakistan in 1967. He became Professor of Radiology and Head of Department of KMC and visiting Radiologist KTH in 1978 and retired as Professor on 31st December, 1995.
He worked as a senior Registrar locum for two months in the Radiology department of Royal Northern Hospital in 1979. Dr. Rehmat Ullah went to UK on WHO fellowship in 1983 for 3 months for training in Neuro Radiology, Angiography and Ultrasound. Thus he spent one month each in the Radiology department of Newcastle of Upon-Tyne general Hospital Royal Infirmary Bristol, Hammer-Smith Hospital London.
Dr. Rehmat ullah was elected as president of the Radiological Society of Pakistan in 1992-93. National and International Radiological conferences were held at Peshawar during this period under his president ship. He became Honorary Consultant PAF as Wing Commander on 1st January 1987. He was promoted Honorary Group Captain PAF on 20th March 1990. After retirement he worked as Professor Radiology Department Naseer Teaching Hospital, Kabir Medical College Peshawar for about two years. Dr. Rehmat ullah also was Examiner in Radiology College of Physicians and Surgeon Pakistan and M.Phil Radiology examination PGMI / University of Peshawar.
